Changes, Fixes, and Decisions made after the Jam
Hey, everyone!
The Unity gamejam has ended, and we cannot be happier with the results. This was the first game we - me and my wife - have actually finished, after many discarded ones. Never would have though that a timelimit is what we needed to accomplish something, but here we are, and here is Pip. Our game has received so many love and feedback from the community, we have decided to put more work and effort into making it a great game.
First of all, I have fixed a few annoying bugs:
- Pip is now turning towards the direction where you move your mouse
- The camera stays with you and doesn't wanna peek through walls anymore
- Pip is now not being pulled down by gravity when idle.
- The correct data log and picture is shown in your inventory after picking them up, no more searching, and no more scrolling.
Changes/Improvements made:
- Better-looking HUD and tablet UI
- Visual enhancements
- Performance and shader improvements
- A few pickable items can be found elsewhere
- When you pick up an image or datalog, the inventory will open automatically
- Final audio message/scene starts as soon as you close the inventory after checking the final pickable item.
- Smooth door animation
NEW additions:
- Cinematic intro at the beginning of the game
- More sound effects
- New interactable objects for Pip to assess
- Language selection: English and Hungarian - SUB and DUB
- Voiceover for Pip for a cute robot sound in both languages (sample voice generated with Elevenlabs).
The game is now available for Windows, Mac and Linux to download.
We wanna thank you for giving a chance to Pip - Left Behind, and played the game. Big shoutout to those who gave us valuable feedback! Many of you have requested a more complex and in-depth story with more puzzles and interactions, and therefore we have an announcement to make:
After the Jam, we have sat down and seriously considered Pip's story and our options, and decided to expand the game into a proper narrative exploration game, extending the gameplay to 2-3 hours. This means more assets, bigger map, more storylines, more puzzles, and a different ending for the game. My wife is especially excited to have more time for better storytelling and surprises. In the coming months we are going to work on this major milestone, and also sharing our progress. Once we have a release date in mind, we'll let you know.
Thanks again, and happy gaming!
